How to Choose the Right RFID System

When choosing the right RFID tag, keep the following factors in mind:

The cost of an RFID tag can range from $1.00 to $75.00 a piece and each price range has different features to offer. Click here to learn more about the different costs of RFID tags or contact us for a quote on a tag that is right for you.

Effective RFID Solutions for Liquid Assets

Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) technology has been improving the efficiency of inventory tracking and management worldwide. But there are unique challenges inherent with working with certain materials and one of the most serious issues has proved to be reading the tags. Certain materials - namely liquids or inventory that has high moisture content - can present interference problems, often making data difficult to read.

Lower frequency signals pass through liquids, therefore LF (125KHz to 134KHz), HF (13.56MHz), and ISM band 315-433MHz tags are best suited for tags worn on a person or that must transmit through liquid assets. Contact RFID Hut for more information.

High and Low Frequency RFID tags for better read distance near metals.

Low Frequency (LF) and High Frequency (HF) tags generally read better around metals because they use a magnetic field rather than an electric field to communicate. Custom antennas are sometimes required. UHF tags that space the tag away from the metal by ΒΌ inch can be used. Battery assisted tags help overcome the transmission distance reduction caused by metals. UHF signals will not penetrate through metals and the metal objects can cause reflections that can cancel signals.

Careful evaluation of each application is required. Contact RFID Hut for an evaluation of your RFID needs.

How far can RFID tags be read from?

The read distance for RFID tags range from about 3 inches to several hundred feet. Each type of tag has its own use and therefore all factors should be considered when using a specific type of RFID tag. Learn more about read distance or contact us for more information.
