Where Did RFID Technology Come From?

You know there is always story behind what we think is brand new. If you are inquisitive like me, read on.
Some say it was early invention of an espionage tool for the Soviet Union that started in all. It was some kind of resonator that modulated a radio frequency used for covert listening.
Latter a transponder was invented to identify aircraft. Was the air plane friend or foe?
In 1973 a patent was issued. It’s purpose was to be used to identify autos so they could collect a toll on the highway. I always look for the “Follow the Money” reasons because thats a strong motive.
In 1983 the largest use of RFID began with the US Department of Defense use in tagging containers that travelled outside of the United States.
At around the same time, Ron Pulvermacher (Matrix Product Development) began working with passive RFID systems for dairy farms. It was used to manage the ever increasing herd sizes. Cows were fitted with neck collars with low frequency 134 KHz RFID tags. The tags were read by readers placed at strategic locations within the dairy.
That answers the question... “Where’s the Beef?”... doesn’t it?
Latter, the RFID technology migrated into leg mounted, active pedometers, creating a smart sensor to report the footstep activity of the cow. It help predict estrus, improving conception rate. All this to get you and I more beef on our plates.
Now you can look at your automatic garage door to find the use of active RFID tags. It controls the opening and closing. And that makes our lives easier.
You can see that we didn’t invent RFID technology, but Ron Pulvermacher and his team know how to find new applications to make your life easier.
Once you experience how easy tagging your most important assets and costly inventory is, you’ll wonder how you ever managed without it.
We have applications in place to apply to your particular problem or to custom fit to your existing situation. We would like to hear from you.
